Jorge Aliaga Cacho

Jorge Aliaga Cacho was born in Lima, Peru. He is a sociologist and writer. He studied at the Leoncio Prado Military School, an institution attended by Nobel Prize-winning Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa. In 1973, Aliaga represented Peruvian youth in Berlin, at the X World Festival of Youth and Students. In 1975 he was elected President of the Workers' Association of the National Institute of Culture. In 1981 he went into exile in Scotland and worked at the Edinburgh College of Art.
From 1986 to 1990 he worked at "Café Peña Jananti", in Edinburgh. There he promoted the art and culture of Latin America. In 1990 he began his studies at the University of Glasgow where he graduated with honours in Sociology. Then came the University of St. Andrews where he specialized in Literature from the Río de la Plata and Translation Methodology. Subsequently, he studied Pedagogy at the University of Edinburgh where he obtained a postgraduate degree in Education. Aliaga Cacho was a teacher at Telford College, West Lothian College and was also a Spanish teacher at Whitburn Academy, Deans Community High School and the prestigious George Heriot's School in Edinburgh. Aliaga is a sociologist, writer, poet, educator, Hispanist and Latinoamericanist.

Jorge Aliaga Cacho nació en Lima, Perú. Es sociólogo y escritor. Estudió en el Colegio Militar Leoncio Prado, institución a la que asistió el autor peruano, ganador del Premio Nobel, Mario Vargas Llosa. En 1973, Aliaga representó a la juventud peruana en Berlín, en el X Festival Mundial de la Juventud y los Estudiantes. En 1975 fue elegido Presidente de la Asociación de Trabajadores del Instituto Nacional de Cultura. En 1981 se exilió en Escocia y trabajó en el Colegio de Arte de Edimburgo. De 1986 a 1990 trabajó en el "Café Peña Jananti", en Edimburgo. Allí promovió el arte y la cultura de América Latina. En 1990 comenzó sus estudios en la Universidad de Glasgow donde se graduó con honores en Sociología. Luego vino la Universidad de St. Andrews donde se especializó en Literatura del Río de la Plata y Metodología de la Traducción. Posteriormente, estudió Pedagogía en la Universidad de Edimburgo donde se le confirió un posgrado en Educación. Aliaga Cacho fue profesor en: Telford College, West Lothian College y también fue profesor de Español en Whitburn Academy, Deans Community High School y la prestigiosa George Heriot's School de Edimburgo. Aliaga es sociólogo, escritor, poeta, educador, hispanista y latinoamericanista.
