Lee Ian Moffat is a self-taught Scottish artist who has been inspired by the various fellow artisans he’s met on his travels around the globe and from his time spent working at the Prado museum. Although a teacher of English by trade his passion is outside of the classroom - creating arts and crafts from the materials he finds around him and transforming them into objects to be loved. His works can be purchased directly from his website or by visiting his stall at the Edinburgh International Festival. The Scottish themed art is not on sale until the next Edinburgh festival of the arts.

It has been hard living under lockdown restrictions especially being apart from family and loved ones at Christmas. I had a lovely festive surprise however when I met my daughter (socially distanced of course) as I travelled through to Edinburgh for my first COVID vaccination last week. Among the traditional toiletries and sweets, she had wrapped for me was a unique portrait painted by Lee. It seems that for the creative souls lockdown has been an opportunity to work on their craft which is a silver lining during these hard times. I am very impressed with his work and if I was still running my arts and crafts peña cafe then I most certainly would have given him an exhibition! The Highland is a Scottish breed of rustic cattle. It originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Outer Hebrides islands of Scotland and has longhorns and a long shaggy coat. It is a hardy breed, bred to withstand the intemperate conditions in the region.
